Cheer On Your Favorite Hampton Roads Sports Teams

If you have lived in the Hampton Roads area, you may know that we have tried for years to bring a major sports franchise to the region. We have come close a few times, and there is always the chance that we will see a major league team call Hampton Roads home in the future. In the meantime, though, you have the option of cheering on some great college and minor league teams across several sports. Whether you prefer baseball over basketball, or want to take in a rousing lacrosse match, we will happy to give you the score.

For thrilling professional sports action, get your seats early and pass the peanuts:

Norfolk Tides: The Tides are based in Norfolk and play at beautiful Harbor Park on the Elizabeth River. They are currently a AAA team in the International League and are affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles. If you are lucky, you may get to see an occasional Oriole come down for a few games, but the Tides are definitely no slouches when it comes to great baseball. Many a Tides player has gone on to the majors, so definitely take the time to watch the future stars of the sport here.

Norfolk Admirals: Our minor league hockey team is hot! The Admirals are the winners of the 2012 Calder Cup and are affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks. If you want to see the future stars of the NHL take to the ice, head over to the Scope during their season and see them battle the Hershey Bears, the Charlotte Checkers, and other minor league teams

.

Hampton Roads Piranhas: Virginia Beach is home to men and women soccer teams in the United Soccer League. Home games are held at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, where fans can cheer the teams as they play rivals from DC, Maryland, and West Virginia.

Peninsula Pilots: The Peninsula Pilots are an amateur baseball team in the Coastal Plain League, collegiate summer baseball league. The team plays its home games at the War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, Virginia. The Pilots first started participating in the Coastal Plain League in 2000.

College Sports: NCAA fans will find no shortage of teams to root for in Hampton Roads. Between Old Dominion University's Monarchs and Lady Monarchs, Virginia Wesleyan College's Marlins, the William and Mary Tribe, and the Hampton University Pirates, sports fans get the best of college-level baseball, football, soccer, and other team sports.
